1 August 2011: Changes to charges for late return/renewal of loans

As agreed by Library Advisory Group, fines for the late return/renewal of items will be charged as follows from 1 August 2011:

Loan Period:	If not reserved:	If reserved by another borrower:
Short Loan (Keele Campus Library only)	25p per hour  / £3.00 per day (to a maximum of £20 per item)	N/A
Week Loan	25p per day (to a maximum of £5.00 per item)	£1.00 per day (to a maximum of £20.00 per item)
Standard Loan	25p per day (to a maximum of £5.00 per item)	£1.00 per day (to a maximum of £20.00 per item)
Loan & Renewal Threshold	£10.00 and over per borrower

Web of Knowledge 3.5 due to be available soon!

A new version of Web of Knowledge (known as "version 5.3") is due to become available from 17 July 2011; the updated version is the one you should see when you access the database from this date.

The existing version (known as "version 4.10") is to be made available until the end of 2011.  From 17 July 2011 you should be able to access it via a link on the right-hand side of the updated Web of Knowledge screen.

Library Opening Hours for Summer Vacation 2011

Please take note of our Summer Vacation Opening Hours which are in operation from tomorrow, Saturday June 11th 2011.

Building work

Over the next few weeks some building work will be taking place at the Campus library, including making changes to the enquiry and issue desks as well as moving the self-service machines. Due to this the self-service machines in the library foyer will be unavailable from next Monday (13th June) for a few days. The main issue desk will remain open as normal, as will the self-service machines in the Short Loan area. This work has been timetabled to take place outside semester to minimise disruption but please accept our  apologies for any inconvenience if you do use the library at this time.

Refworks 2.0 Is Coming To Keele!

Refworks have just released a new improved version of their software, version 2.0. Keele is adopting this new version at the end of 2011.

From August 2011, we plan to give you the option to “switch on” the new Refworks from your existing accounts. Users will be able to “toggle” between the old and new Refworks until the end of the year. From January 2012 the new version will be adopted "as standard".

The new version retains all of the original functions of the old, with improved design and navigation options.

Scott McGowan, Liaison Librarian, will be offering training sessions throughout the year to help Refworks users get acqainted with the new design. These will be advertised in the usual way, primarily through the Library's website blog.

In addition, Refworks offer many "Webinars" to all Refworks users, covering all aspects of using the software. Places can be booked through the Refworks website.
