OUP e-journals

The Library now offers access to a further 250 electronic journal titles from Oxford University Press. This includes titles across many subject areas, from the Humanities, Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Medicine, Law and Mathematics & Physical Sciences. Access is from 1996 to the latest issue for all titles. 

A list of titles is available at http://www.oxfordjournals.org/resource/image/collection.pdf and they are all accessible via http://www.oxfordjournals.org

They are also available via our e journals A -Z and the @Keele button.

Over a thousand more full-text e-journals now available!

Over the summer Keele University Library has increased the number of full-text e-journals which Keele students and staff can access. Over 1500 e-journals are now accessible through Taylor & Francis Online as the Library has subscribed to their full journals collection. 

You can access the full-text of these journals from on and off-campus at: http://www.tandfonline.com. For off-campus access you will need to sign in using your Keele username and password. As well as the latest issues you can browse back through the archives, accessing content from 1997 onwards for most titles.

The Taylor & Francis full collection covers multiple subject areas across Humanities, Social Sciences and Science and Technology.

Access 1,200 extra journals online!

The Library is pleased to announce that all Keele University students and staff can now access 1,200 additional journals online. Following extensive negotiations, the Library has reached an agreement with Wiley to subscribe to their full journals collection. This means all Keele University users can access the full-text of 1,400 Wiley journals both on and off-campus via Wiley's Online Library at http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com. As well as the latest issues, you can browse back through the archives, accessing backfile content from 1997 onwards for most titles. 

The Wiley journals full collection includes titles from a wide range of subject disciplines across Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, many of which are high impact-factor, peer-reviewed journals.

The titles will be fully integrated with Library discovery software, making it easier for you to find and access content.

Science and Nature - new electronic titles

The Library is pleased to announce that we have now converted our subscriptions for the journals 'Science' and 'Nature' from print-only to online access. These titles are available from both on and off campus.

To access the subscriptions, go to the eJournals AtoZ and enter the name of the journal that you wish to locate:

We have purchased e-access to 'Nature' as part of a bundle (from 2010 onwards) which also includes:

Nature Genetics, Nature Neuroscience, Nature News, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology and Nature Reviews: Cancer

New feature in Catalogue Plus

A new feature has gone live in Catalogue Plus this week.If you have searched for a journal title which we have in print, such as New Scientist or Nature, you will now see a green @Keele icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. This is a link to the ejournals A-Z, so you can click on it and it will tell you whether we also have that journal in electronic format, and what coverage we have. Note that not all of our print journals are available in electronic format, and of course that we have far more journals available only electronically. Please let us know what you think of this new feature, or if you have any questions about it.

SAGE Journals Premier

The library has purchased electronic access to the Sage Premier suite of journals, these are now live and accessible to all Keele users. The Sage Premier collection includes leading international peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact research titles published on behalf of over 245 scholarly and professional societies. This deal provides the University with:

• Electronic access to over 645 peer-reviewed, full-text journals, with content dating back to 1999. 
• igh-quality, interdisciplinary content – almost two thirds of the content in the SAGE Premier package is ranked in the 2011 Journal Citation Reports® (Thomson Reuters, 2012)

These titles are available from our AtoZ of Journals, via the @Keele button or by going directly to Sage's platform. They can be accessed off-campus using your Keele username and password.

New search system under test

Locating information for an essay or indeed any kind of research isn't always as quick or easy a process as it ideally should be. Having to repeat your search in multiple information resources such as the Library catalogue and journal databases can be inconvenient
and time-consuming. To meet this need, the Library has set up a new system called Encore which allows searches on the library catalogue and most of our major ejournal databases at the same time. The default search combines books and articles, showing the top 3 or 4 most relevant articles and giving direct access to the full text of journal articles. However if you click on the 'Articles' tab you can choose to focus your search on the most subject-relevant resources. Of course, due to database licensing, the full-text is available only to Keele staff and students, so you must login using either your IT username and password or your library barcode.

Please let us know what you think of the system. Although we've tested it thoroughly we'd be particularly grateful if you notice anything which doesn't appear to work as it should.

The Sociological Review: available online

Keele staff and students can now get full online access to The Sociological Review through Wiley Online Library here.

Based at Keele University The Sociological Review has been publishing high quality and innovative articles for over 100 years.

To access the journal from off-campus you will need your Keele username and password.

• Accessing e-journals and e-books from off-campus
