Are you graduating this summer? Bring your Keele card to the Library Counter to receive a graduation memento to help you remember your time at Keele! (hint: it's not a chocolate bar).

Self-service machine move

If you're looking for the self-service unit in Short Loan, it isn't there any longer! In order to move self-service closer to the books and increase study space, we've moved it upstairs to the mezzanine area next to the photocopier. The other self-service units are still where they were.

Proposed withdrawal of library stock

A list of items currently being considered for withdrawal is now available at https://calmview.keele.ac.uk/opac/withdrawals.html

The final date for comments and requests is 8th January 2017.

Plugs....

During the summer the Library takes the opportunity of the quieter times by getting improvements and refurbishment work done. For example this summer we're having electrical plugs installed onto many of the study desks around the building, so that you can plug in your laptops, tablets, etc. The work has started on the top floor and should be complete by the end of September.

Recarpeting in the Campus Library

Over the next two weeks we are having some stained and worn carpeting replaced in the central areas of the top and middle floors of the Campus Library. The Library will remain open and we will try to minimise any disruption to library users, but please be patient while the work takes place.

Smokers shelter

In case you were wondering what it is! Over the last couple of days, despite the weather, builders have been putting up a smokers shelter outside the Campus Library. It gives smokers somewhere to go which is out of the wind, moves their smoke away from the library steps, and clears the road outside the library as well. The grass which has been damaged will of course be replaced.

Pay your library fines using your Keele card

Under testing in the Campus Library is a new facility which enables you to pay library fines from your Keele card. Simply insert the card and it will list your current fines, which you can then pay from your Keele card. The new machine is installed on the middle floor opposite the self-service machines, and a similar one is planned to be be installed at the Health Library in a few weeks time.If you'd like to be shown how to use it, or have any problems, please ask at the Library Counter.

National Libraries Day Saturday 8th February

Did you know the Campus Library houses 1400 linear metres of Special Collections and Archives? Along with manuscripts spanning ten centuries, we hold almost 25,000 rare books and journals, of which almost 600 are pre-1700 imprints. Publications are on the Library catalogue and you can explore the Archives here http://www.keele.ac.uk/library/specarc/

Library Christmas tree

The Library Christmas tree this year is very GREEN and is made entirely of recycled, reused and reusable materials. Library staff made the decorations and had great fun doing so. The paper chains have been fixed with NO staples, using an ingenious gadget called the Magic Stapler. Please spare a moment to take a look and spread the word. We have added seasonal greetings in 36 languages (so far) including Klingon. Can you work out what they all are?

We wish all our users and visitors the greatest health and happiness at Christmas and all through the year.

Wi-Fi improvements at the Campus Library

Over the summer IT Services will be making major improvements to wireless networking across campus. Work on the Library is due to start next Monday (10th June 2013) and should take about 2 weeks to complete.During this period there may be some minor disruption from drilling or ladders, but we'll try to minimise this as much as possible. If you have any problems accessing books or journals please let the Info-Point staff know and we'll fetch them for you.

New sign for Campus Library and IT Services

The weather could have been better for its arrival but after much anticipation our new sign has arrived.

Thanks for your patience if you had to take a slight diversion to get into the library whilst it was installed. The old outdated signage will be removed in a few days.

Library 50th Anniversary exhibition online
